Agriculture Academy Unit

For each module, the students have the opportunity to review a self-guided online learning which utilizes Storyline 360 and covers the weekly topic. The presentation provides the student with knowledge checks, videos and a pictorial representation of the topic for deeper understanding

Agriculture specialists undergo pre-academy, post-academy and academy training. However, most of the current training is fairly basic and lacks the development of a social presence and does not use discussion boards as a means to ensure deeper understanding.. Despite all of the academy training, returning agriculture specialists lack skills with making regulatory decisions and defending the decisions. This training provides opportunities to improve those skills.

I utilized an instructor led training and incorporated online training elements with the unit presentations. Social networking and group discussions increase the student's deeper learning of the material and better prepare them to return with more robust regulatory skills.

Agriculture Academy Design Document

The course is a 4-week, instructor-led online course. It utilizes TEAMS and agriculture manuals for the learners to learn the ins and outs of regulating. There are graded quizzes and tests but also a social learning aspect where the learners compare answers with each other to build constructively on their knowledge of regulatory decision making.  The instruction, while instructor-led, is focused on student centered interaction with the curriculum, the other students and the instructor.

Included in this document is the syllabus, all discussion boards, all regulatory discussion boards and all four tests.
